The Denver Streets Partnership is excited to announce that we are now a fully-staffed multimodal advocacy organization with greater capacity to reclaim Denver’s streets for people and make them safer for everyone

The Denver Streets Partnership formed in 2016 as a coalition of nonprofit organizations advocating for people-friendly streets, and will continue to operate with leadership from that coalition. Our guiding principle has been that advocates are stronger when we work together. This announcement marks another step forward in that thinking. We are better together, and Denver residents and visitors will all benefit when bike, walk and transit advocates unite.

To make this transition possible, Bicycle Colorado and WalkDenver—the two founding members of the Denver Streets Partnership—have merged and the Denver Streets Partnership will operate as a division of Bicycle Colorado. The Denver Streets Partnership will incorporate all of WalkDenver’s work and serve as Bicycle Colorado’s advocacy arm in Denver.

Jill Locantore, who served as Executive Director of WalkDenver, is now the Executive Director of the Denver Streets Partnership. With her expertise leading grassroots advocacy work in Denver, Bicycle Colorado’s 28 years of advocacy and community-building experience, and a steering committee made up of eight other local and national organizations committed to making streets safer, the Denver Streets Partnership will focus on the critical role that transportation plays in creating more connected, sustainable, healthy and equitable communities.

We’re excited to expand our reach and enhance our efforts, starting today.

We now have four dedicated, full-time staff.

The steering committee that has guided the work the Denver Streets Partnership has accomplished over the past four years will remain in place. Danny Katz, Executive Director of CoPIRG, will now chair the committee, and Molly McKinley, Grassroots Advocacy Manager at Bicycle Colorado, will serve as vice chair. Other coalition members include the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, Groundwork Denver, the American Heart Association, All In Denver, AARP, Mile High Connects and YIMBY Denver.
